Give us your views at the next Brave Hearts meeting on Tuesday September 19th 2017
As you will have noticed, Brave Hearts now has its own email template. It’s all explained in the panel at the bottom of this email.
At our next meeting we’re going to have a social get-together and would like to take the opportunity to get your views on the sorts of talks that you’d like us to plan into the New Year and beyond. Tony and Jan McHale will be joining us to stimulate interest and discussion.
The meeting will take place at 2.30pm on Tuesday September 19th 2017 at the Magnolia Club, Magnolia Park, Valley Road, Hughenden Valley, High Wycombe, HP14 4LA. There will be a raffle and refreshments as usual. Any donations for the raffle as well as cakes and biscuits will be appreciated. Please click here to let me know if you will be able to join us or call me on 01628 525601.
With kind regards.
Chris Baker (Chairman, Brave Hearts)
About Brave Hearts and Hearts & Souls
This mailing is sent on behalf of Brave Hearts, the support group for cardiac patients in Buckinghamshire, byHearts & Souls, the registered charity that raises funds for cardiac rehabilitation in Buckinghamshire. Although they are separate organisations, Brave Hearts and Hearts & Souls share the same database.
Heart attack in 2016. Cardiac rehab in 2017. 10K run in May 2019...
That’s Peter Jemmett’s story in short but the longer version, a blog that chronicles his heart attack and rehabilitation is truly inspirational and you can read it at peterjemmett.blogspot.com. We’re sure you’ll find it interesting and Peter’s experience will no doubt seem very familiar to many of you. The response to the blog from cardiac patients has been extremely positive, as you can see from the quote.
Peter went through the Active Hearts programme and has become one of Hearts & Souls’ top fundraisers. Such is his recovery that he is going to do the Ridge Off Roader 10K Run on Sunday May 19th 2019. This is a challenging mixed terrain, mainly off road race, that starts in Bledlow Ridge and wends its way through the Chilterns including Slough Hill and Lodge Hill. The start and finish of the run are actually where Peter had his heart attack on December 28th 2016, so this is personal!
Very generously Peter is running in aid of Hearts & Souls and he’s managed to recruit some people to join him on the run. If you’d like to wish him well why not sponsor him? Just click on the link below to reach his JustGiving page. Or click on the picture.
If you or a loved one have been through the rehab programme, you’ll know how life-changing it is. Your sponsorship is an easy way to ensure we can continue to help heart patients get back to normal and continue to do amazing things.
As you may know, every year a troupe of loyal Hearts & Souls supporters raises money by doing a sponsored walk across 16 London bridges. This year’s walk will take place on Sunday 30th September 2018. Would you and your family and friends like to join us? We’ll be meeting at 8.30am at the Hurlingham Club close to Putney Bridge and the walk will finish at around 1.30pm at Tower Bridge. It’s approximately 12 miles or 33,000 steps mostly on pavements and hard surfaces but there are some steps to climb to cross some of the bridges. This event is a big fundraiser for us. It’s also great fun and a wonderful way to take in the London river views and landmarks. Click here to see the illustrated route guide.
We’re hoping 50 to 75 walkers will join us, raising an average of £100 in sponsorship to meet our target of £5000. Of course, we will be delighted to exceed this and with your support, either as a walker or sponsor, we are sure we can do this. To maximise fundraising and to make it as easy as possible, we have opened a special online team fundraising page on JustGiving and will give you full details of how to join it when you register. We will also provide you with a sponsorship form for off-line donations.
For operational reasons we need to limit the number of walkers to 75 so we recommend you register as soon as possible. Registration is free. Because we have very limited car parking facilities at the Hurlingham Club and to minimise travel costs, we’ll also be arranging a coach from Old Amersham at a cost of £10 a head for the round trip. The coach will collect you from Tower Bridge for the return journey. Public transport is another option.
How to register Please email: email@example.com giving the following details for each walker: · Name · Email address · Mobile ‘phone number (just in case we need to contact you on the day) · How you plan to travel to the Hurlingham Club
We will send you full details but please don’t worry if you don’t receive an instant reply from us as we are not using an automated process.
If you or a loved one have been through the cardiac rehabilitation programme, you will know how superb it is at helping people get back to normal after cardiac events. Supporting this event is a great way to say thanks to the brilliant rehabilitation team and to ensure patients can continue to benefit from this vital service. ... See MoreSee Less
Hurry! Book now if you want to come on our lovely new Summer Thames Valley Walk...
If you want to come on our brand new five-mile sponsored walk around the Thames Path and Chiltern beechwoods near Little Marlow, the sooner you register the better. The walk is on Sunday July 22nd 2018 and we have to limit the number of walkers to 40 and more than half the places have already gone.
About the Summer Thames Valley Walk We will meet up at 9:30am on Sunday July 22nd 2018 at the Bucks CC car park by Spade Oak Lake (nature reserve) between Bourne End and Little Marlow. We’ll set off in groups, each led by a guide who knows the route well. We’ll follow a stile-free circular route of 5 miles via the village of Fern, through open fields and beautiful Chiltern beechwoods (part of the Chiltern Way), and then into the pretty village of Little Marlow down to the Thames Path before returning to the car park. This varied walk is partly on pavement but mainly on footpaths so you’ll need suitable footwear. It’s suitable for walkers of all ages. Why not bring the whole family? We should easily be finished by 12 noon and can then enjoy some refreshment and food, if you wish, at the adjoining Spade Oak pub to swap stories, socialise and recover from our exertions.
Sponsorship There’s no charge for joining the walk but our goal is for every participant to raise £50 in sponsorship for Hearts & Souls. To make it a real team effort, we’ve set up a team fundraising page on JustGiving and will tell you how to join the team and raise sponsorship when you register.
How to register Registration is free and easy. Simply click here and provide the following information in your email. · Name of each walker · Email address of each walker · Mobile ‘phone number of one of your party (in case we need to contact you on the day)
Then click send. We will mail you full details but please don’t worry if you don’t receive an instant reply from us as we are not using an automated process.
We do hope you’ll join us and very much look forward to seeing you on the day.
