If you have had heart problems, you may take some comfort from knowing that you are not alone. There are patient support groups in Buckinghamshire which meet from time to time and where you can meet people who have similar experiences to yourself.
Brave Hearts, an independent group run by volunteers, assists cardiac patients by providing information and/or advice, where possible, through guest speakers. Brave Hearts, however, does not provide individual medical services or medical advice. The Group is not a charity but is affiliated to the British Heart Foundation. There are meetings most months on the third Tuesday of each month at 2.30pm. These meetings are held at the Magnolia Park Country Club, Valley Road, Hughenden Valley, HP14 4LA. Medical and general speakers are invited to cover a range of issues which include developments in cardiology, cardiac rehabilitation, the importance of exercise and diet, and medication issues. There are opportunities for questions & answers after the talks. New members are always welcome and there is no cost for attending meetings. For information please email Chris Baker or call him on 01628 525601.
This group meets at 2.30 pm on the last Thursday of every month (except August and December) at the Stoke Mandeville Village Community Centre, Eskdale Road, Stoke Mandeville, Aylesbury, Bucks., HP22 5UJ For more information, please call Alan Kirkpatrick on 01296 623472.
